Registered Nurse (RN) – School Health Services
Reports To: Superintendent / Campus Administrators

Contract Length: 182 days
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive school health services to students and staff in the Floydada Collegiate ISD. The RN promotes student wellness, manages acute and chronic health conditions, ensures compliance with state regulations, and supports a safe learning environment across all campuses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Health Services:
- Provide direct nursing care to students
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and district policy
- Develop and monitor Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs)
- Support Section 504 and special education processes
Health Screening & Prevention:
- Conduct required Texas health screenings
- Monitor communicable diseases and enforce exclusion guidelines
- Promote preventive care and immunization compliance
Emergency Preparedness & Response:
- Respond to medical emergencies
- Assist with emergency health planning
- Train staff in CPR and first aid as assigned
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain confidential health records
- Ensure compliance with Texas Education Code and DSHS requirements
- Prepare required reports
Collaboration & Communication:
- Serve as liaison between school, families, and healthcare providers
- Provide consultation and staff training
- Address health-related barriers to attendance
Rural District Support:
- Travel between campuses
- Work independently with limited medical resources
- Utilize community health partnerships
Professional Standards:
- Adhere to Texas Nurse Practice Act
- Maintain licensure and certifications
Required Qualifications:
- Texas Registered Nurse License
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN
- School experience will be given hiring priority
- Knowledge of Texas school health regulations
Work Environment:
- School campuses in a rural setting
- Exposure to communicable diseases and emergencies
